We’re a nonprofit, all-volunteer group of boating enthusiasts who love to share our passion for the water. With over 100 members—and growing—we’re part of a nationwide network committed to safety, seamanship, and community.

To promote safe boating and lifelong friendships through education, community events, and public service.
Where We’re Based
We’re proud to be based in DuPage County, Illinois, with members from all across the western suburbs of Chicago. We’re one of over 450 regional squadrons in the United States Power Squadrons®—America’s largest family boating organization.
As part of USPS District 20, we connect boaters across southeast Wisconsin, northwest Indiana, and northeast Illinois—from Chicago out to Rockford and down to Springfield.
What We Do
Boating Education
We offer a range of boating safety courses to the public—from beginner to advanced topics like navigation, engine maintenance, sailing, and more. Members also get access to exclusive skill-building classes taught by experienced boaters.
Social Activities
We host events on and off the water all year long—cruises, raft-ups, fishing derbies, navigation contests, plus dinner-dances, picnics, marine-themed meetings, and fun field trips.
Public Service
We support national programs like the Cooperative Charting Program, partnering with NOAA to help keep marine maps accurate and up to date.
Free Vessel Safety Checks
We’ve teamed up with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary to offer free Vessel Safety Checks (VSCs). These inspections help make sure your boat has all the required safety gear—no tickets, just helpful feedback. Boats that pass get a special VSC decal to show you’re ready for the season.
Why Boating Safety Matters
We’ve seen too many boaters run into trouble that could’ve been easily avoided with just a bit of training. Most issues on the water—whether they’re minor hassles or dangerous situations—can be prevented. We’re here to make sure you and your passengers stay safe while enjoying every minute out there.
